Fall-Line's 2011-12 Ski of the Year winner : the Atomic Theory

It hits the shelves on 20 October as a stand-alone magazine (or, subscribers bag it free with our October issue), and it's bigger than ever before – which means there's more stuff in it.

Skis and snowboards

As usual, we've got comprehensive, tried and tested reviews of almost 150 pairs of skis, including the winners of our Skis of the Year awards. Atomic's outstanding new Theory bagged the big one – Ski of the Year 2011/12 – while other podium winners include the Scott Venture, Blizzard Viva Magnum 74, Volkl Gotama and Line Sir Francis Bacon. We've yet to reveal the winners of our Snowboards of the Year – but we can tell you that our testers were blown away by the Nitro Team Gullwing and K2 Happy Hour. You'll have to wait until October for the results.

If it's your get-up that needs a revamp, flick to the Outerwear section, which showcases over 90 of this season's hottest jackets and pants. From Armada's slick Style Hypersonic jacket – ideal for park rats – to Peak Performance's Heli Alpine all-in-one freeriding suit to Helly Hansen's über-technical Odin Guiding jacket and pant, we've got every style and budget covered. The same goes for our Goggles, Gloves, Backpacks and Baselayers sections. For each one we tell you what to look for, and what to avoid.

Safety equipment

We're big on safety here at Fall-Line, which is why we've almost doubled the size of our Helmets and Protection sections this season. Looking to invest in a new transceiver or ABS pack, but don't know where to start? Our Off-Piste Safety guide, which reviews the latest high-tech kit on the market, explains all the kit in layman's terms to help you make your pick.

Win new kit!

AND, as if that's not enough to get you salivating, we've got big prizes to give away too, including a brand new pair of skis, boots and jacket/pants. Plus, we reveal the winner of our new Fall-Line Innovation of the Year award.

So, mark it in your diaries people – Fall-Line's Gear Guide 2011/12, out in October.
