Montriond offers excellent access to the Portes Du Soleil

Home to Abricotine (or the finish of the run at least!), one of the longest runs in the Portes du Soleil. The 8km 'expedition' run starts at the peaks bordering Switzerland and ends at the Ardent cable car far below (just up from Montriond). This long piste will take you passed the hamlet of Lindarets, which has a reputation for good food, though it is pricey.

Montriond offers excellent access to the Portes du Soleil from the high-speed bubble at Ardent taking you directly into Avoriaz.

From Montriond you'll need to grab the bus (free Navette ski bus during the winter – watch out as it finishes in the early evening though).

The area immediately at the exit of the Ardent bubble is the plateau de La Lecherette. It is a flat area is ideal for beginners and an easy meeting place with a number of restaurants. Runs returning from Chatel, or finishing the Stash all come back to this point. From the plateau there is a choice of chairlifts taking you either up to Avoriaz town and ski area or towards Chatel or Les Crosets in Switzerland.
