My love for Whistler is pretty obvious seeing as I came here for a season in 08/09 and haven’t left yet! The cool thing about this place is if you get your pass early you don't have to pay as much, although it's still a pretty heavy hit – the early bird rate is $1349 (CAN) plus tax and is available until 11 October 2010.
So what can you expect at the resort? Two mountains with immense on and off piste terrain, tree runs galore and enough parks to keep any park rat content.
Another plus side to coming to Whistler, is for the first time there is talk of accommodation being much easier to find and cheaper. Usually Whistler is a nightmare to secure winter accomodation, and as a result the rent prices are high, however this year the government has provided a whole new housing development for locals, which they move into in September, leaving a lot more accommodation available for the seasonaire.
Secondly, it's an La Nina year. That should mean colder temperatures and (hopefully) the snow will start to drop earlier.
Whistler is expensive though, and jobs don’t tend to pay high wages, so ensure you have some savings and jobs that get tips are a big benefit. Whistler has a great atmosphere both on and off the mountain, and has one of the longest seasons worldwide, plus you can stay here as a tourist for six months!
Don’t miss out… winter is coming
