I'm just finishing off what has been an epic week at Treeline Chalets in Morzine at the heart of the Portes du Soleil.
After what had apparently been a pretty ropey season I bowled over from the Brits in Laax with the Westbeach team and newly crowned Big Air Champ Billy Morgan.
We'd been led to believe it was going to be a week of slushy jumps and afternoons by the skate park but it has actually been puking snow with another storm coming this weekend.
The conditions have been so good that it's more like riding in mid-February than in April.
The week at Treeline was a bit of a celebration; guests included Document competition winners, Westbeach Snowflex Freestyle Series competition winners and a few snowboard celebrities and friends of Amy and Duncan that run the show here.
The first day kicked of razzing around Lindarets in Avoriaz and taking a look at the newly placed snowboard park in the woods.

Monday was bluebird and Dom Harington was keen to session a piste-gap jump near the Park de la Chapelle. It's been a well used spot over the years and at first we didn't think the snow coverage was going to be enough but what do you know, with six people shaping, we soon had a very respectable jump.
Dom slayed the session with a bunch of front 3s and cab 5s. Duncan busted out a few 180s and his friend Andrew Goodenough (who was also around for the week and is affectionaly known as the "Sunday suicide skier" threw down a bunch of front 3 stales and even a seven. Billy Morgan made a cameo appearance with a first hit front 3 tail to second jump cab 7.
The next day was a bit of a wash out so I cruised over to Les Crosets and Super Chatel with Billy to hatch plans for later in the week.
It was time well spent and revealed an interesting step-over gap in Crosets and a massive machine-made backcountry jump in Super Chatel.

Another stormy day greeted us on Wednesday so I hit up the Stash with the latest installments of Rome's Flying Circus: Marc McClement, Pete Meadows and their buddy Mitch Flynn.
Neither Pete or Marc had been to the Alps before and they were buzzing on the fresh snow and the crazy features in the Stash.

Finally spending some time with a skier I hooked up with Jason Shutt on Thursday. The snow was epic so we spent a day charging around Chatel making the most of the unprecedented spring conditions.

Friday was a bit of a monster. Through some contacts at the Portes du Soleil press office we had arranged to shred the massive backcountry jump in Super Chatel. It had been built a few weeks previously for a freestyle ski session but the main man, Alex, offered us his snowcat services for the day to re-shape the take-off for the snowboarders and we even had a pow landing.

Scott McMorris, Mark Kent, Nelson Pratt, Joel Erith, Billy Morgan, Andy Nudds and Mike Austin all came along for the early morning session and they threw down bangers.

Somehow Scott managed to judge the speed perfectly on his first hit and went on to stomp a massive back 7. Billy was proving exactly why he had just won the British Big Air title with a fearless attitude and busting out a back 7 followed up with his double cork back 1080. Impressive stuff.

Unfortunately after a little re-shape, and piste of the landing, the wind picked up making it too risky to carry on riding. Still an epic day and an amazing opportunity.
The storm finally rolled in yesterday with really high winds and snow, making a fitting end to a fantastic week.
Big thanks to Amy and Duncan at Treeline for being amazing hosts, Sue Garlick at Westbeach for organising everything, Portes du Soleil and Alex for hosting an epic session on a sick jump.
