Rhianna getting away from all the hype in Whistler

The Olympic torch arrived in Whistler and for the 1st time I’m feeling pretty excited about the Olympics.

It's strange even though so much is happening here, like the masses of security and police, including helicopters and fighter jets constantly flying over head, security check points and the influx of tourists, it wasn’t until I saw the flame that I really felt “Wow, this is actually going to be a cool event!", and the highlight of the week was getting to hold the Olympic torch.

Most people expected the mountain to be jam packed; even though there are literally coaches pulling up one after the other like there’s a factory down the road producing tourists, it seems all the skiers and snowboarders have stayed away for the Olympics, as the mountain has been really quiet... great!

I haven’t got any tickets for any of the events so will be watching them on some of the big screens they are putting up and I will be hanging out at the Swiss House where they are giving out free cheese and cholcolate, much to my delight. Hopefully I’ll get to see some of the British team and cheer them on, and rumour has it they will be allowing season pass holders to watch a part of the downhill race but I’ll have to wait and see if that’s actually true. Happy Olympics and go UK!
