The Kitoko Slopestyle took place at the end of last month in the resort of Chatel in the Portes du Soleil.
This annual charity event was organised by "Dare to Live" for UNICEF and aims to raise funds and collect school equipment for children in Congo.
I headed over from Morzine to check it out with fellow Drop rider Billy Morgan and Scottish ripper Jesse Smith.
The Chatel park crew are great bunch of guys and are always super stoked to have people come and ride their creations.
The weather was less than ideal but after a while we were able to get some decent runs down. As it was a jam format, the atmosphere was super relaxed and enabled the riders to pull out some great tricks.
Jesse set the standard early on with some front 7s and a cab 9, follwed by a frontflip off the butter box.
After testing out the speed for the biggest kicker, Billy proceeded to stomp a double backflip and followed up with some cab 7s, front 7s and a cab 9 – earning him 1st place overall.
They both made full use of the wide array of jib features in the park and certainly impressed the park crew / judges, who awarded Billy with the 'Best Jib line' award and Jesse with 2nd place overall.
I was stoked to finish a close 3rd behind Jesse, and managed to get some cab 5s and front 7s in the bag and I also got the 'Best Innovation' award for a one-footed method.
Billy and Jesse were delighted (and a little surprised) to bag themselves a Heli drop in Italy for their efforts!
The event managed to raise over €200 for UNICEF and we all had a great day, with good tunes throughout and a barbecue after.
